I did my part. All of the horrific business practices coming out of that courthouse can be traced back to the commissioners and the county judge. My votes have been votes to change who is making those decisions.
I agree, if we have any choice at all we should get someone better at handling both the legal and business part of the County and District Attorney’s office. But when we voted out our own neighbors out here in Hardin that should have sent a clear message to these damn lawyers. We are sick of the way you manage OUR business! We like Phil but we sent him to the house. Lee has gotten us more than any area in the county, but we sent him to the house. What makes these two men think we are going to put up with them treating their offices like their own private piggy bank? I can’t figure.
I can’t figure why the Dayton area didn’t kick Norman Brown out on his butt, but I guess they figured he may straighten up as a Republican or they figured his Democratic opponent would be just as bad. Whatever... Liberty has the worst commissioner in the county and if they don’t get rid of Todd Fontenot and if Cleveland doesn’t get rid of Melvin Hunt, it will be hard to stop the way we have wasted and misallocated taxpayer money in Liberty County.
Whatever happens, Hardin voters have done our part. We will be watching and hoping for Craig McNair to lead. He should yell from the water tower when Todd and Melvin pull some of the stuff they always pull.
Candlelight vigil...
A candle burning for all the victims of Liberty County DA, Mike Little's - Malicious Prosecution, Selective Prosecution, Official Oppression, Refusal to Dismiss Cases of the Innocent, Sexual Assault of Prisoners, Civil Rights and Racial Offenses.
READER ASK IF HINCH SWITCHING TO DONKEY PARTY
Dear Liberty Dispatch,
I was present (or I wouldn’t say so) when County Attorney Wes Hinch was basically telling a man what an incompetent idiot Sheriff Henry Patterson is and he has indicated how ineffective he feels Justice of the Peace Bobby Rader is.
I have several problems with knowing the County Attorney feels this way. Having been in court when juveniles arrested by this Sheriff’s department were standing in front of Judge Rader, I can tell you the entire court was very impressive in the way they handled the variety of situations. The thing that was “ineffective” or maybe I should say “incompetent or idiotic” was that there was no prosecutor there from the County Attorney’s or the District Attorney’s office. What is up with that?
I also am curious because I have read on here how Hinch and Mike Little seem to be siding with each other against the entire courthouse. I wonder why Hinch is at such odds with Republicans and so tight with a Democrat. Is he considering switching parties?
Name withheld because of retaliation by Mike Little.

DA Promotes selfish and perverted re-election bid through candlelight vigil of crime victims.

| Liberty County DA, Mike Little |
HCN: "The Office of Liberty County District Attorney Mike Little has issued a county-wide invitation to attend the candlelight vigil for crime victims and child abuse victims which will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at 6:30 p.m. at the Liberty Center, City of Liberty Municipal Complex, 1829 Sam Houston Ave., Liberty, Texas.
The Liberty County District Attorney’s Office, the Liberty County Attorney’s Office, CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Bridgehaven Children’s Advocacy Center, BACA (Bikers Against Child Abuse), MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), and New Horizon Family Center are co-sponsoring the vigil.
The purpose of the vigil is to help the public honor victims of crime, their families and those who serve them and to alert the public to the realities of crime, and express hope for a less violent future.
The vigil is a part of the local observance of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, which is scheduled for the week of April 10 to April 16, 2011.
The theme of Crime Victims’ Rights Week this year is “Reshaping the Future, Honoring the Past.”
The reality of what going on here is Liberty County DA, Mike Little trying to make political hay of the young girl in Cleveland Texas he an Texas Ranger allowed to be sexually raped and exploited- over and over again.
Mike Little has used his connections with Bridgehaven child advocacy to include multiple other community crime victim groups.
Liberty Dispatch has learned that Mike Little has contacted the national media promoting his shameless self promotion and re-election bid through this event.
Liberty Dispatch wonders if all the victims of Mike Little's sexual assault and selective prosecution will be honored in this tainted crime vigil.
This crime vigil would be a great showing of victims rights but for the fecal aroma that Liberty County DA, Mike Little and his office brings.

Dear Liberty Dispatch
Good luck on Liberty County getting rid of District Attorney Mike Little. It will be almost impossible. We worked hard to get him out of our courthouse and it took years to do it. He thinks way more about politics and how to get what he personally wants than cases coming up in court.
To make matters worse, Little is not going to be your only problem. You have probably already discovered that some people will try to help protect him and cover up his behavior. We discovered that happens whenever you deal with one of these people. Lawyers tend to gather together around their own and try and keep on the good side of those in power look at a website by Hunter Biederman. Biederman is an attorney and the self described “go to guy for DWI”. He has taken upon himself to put on his blog a defense of their county indicted Assistant District Attorney. This is not unusual. No matter the accusation or the evidence, prominent people in a community and in the legal profession will make it difficult to remove a bad District Attorney.
Name kept private just in case this DA has still got connections down south.

HERE COMES THE JUDGE(S)!
To many the 2010 elections ushered in a new era of hope and many much needed changes in Liberty County, but the though full of potential some have grown anxious wondering when we will witness some leadership in facing all of the problems created by poor spending practices by past leadership and a hard economic times throughout the country. But help is more than on the way. Liberty Dispatch has uncovered it is here. Off the political radar usually and the last place most would think to look for help in solving a budget crisis, Liberty County ‘s economic leadership seems to be coming from the most unlikely of places – our three Judges.
With no fanfare and no press release, Liberty Dispatch would not even know of the work County Court –at –Law Judge Tommy Chambers, District Judge Chap Cain, and District Judge Mark Morefield are doing to save the county money. These three have looked a little outside of their boxes into related areas and found ways the county can save hundreds of thousands of dollars.
These savings are no pipe dream and they come with no strings attached. A review of the “Notice of Meeting of the District, County Court at Law, and County Judges and the Chief Supervision and Corrections Officer of Liberty County” unveils what our leadership seems to be moving towards. This public document shows that the Judges have their eyes on reducing the number of days indicted nonviolent low risk defendants spend in jail while awaiting trial. With two goals in mind, reduce jail expenses and keeping citizens safe, they have carefully analyzed our jail population.
The conclusion indicates savings will be dramatic. According to public record, each prisoner cost Liberty County $46.50 a day. The public record implies estimates of twenty to twenty five percent of our jail inmates would be waiting for trial under this plan. Some wearing bracelets and some under PR bonds, etc., but all off of the taxpayers backs. With an approximate average daily prisoner count of two hundred, the county would be housing between forty to fifty fewer prisoners a day at a yearly savings ranging between $678,900 and $848,625 a year!
In our effort to gather more information we found something very unusual among our attempts to talk to two of the three Judges involved in what could be the best news for taxpayers in many years. We found a reluctance to comment or take credit for these changes. We referred to the public record we had already obtained for information by one Judge. Rather than make sure his name was associated with the savings, the other Judge hinted that he would like us to wait to report the information until several months of savings had been documented.
These Judges are a far cry from the finger pointing, money spending politicians we have suffered under in recent years. It is encouraging to know we have some elected officials who are not just interested in a larger budget for their department. These proactive public servants looking outside of their own area and at the big picture have found a great way to save money. They found it and are enacting policies and procedures without any fanfare or finger pointing.
We salute them and County Judge Craig McNair for their energetic approach to taking a fresh look at how things have been done in this county. We taxpayers encourage more of this kind of leadership.
